The Green Room

I’m using this blog to (shamelessly) support Red River’s brand new podcast!

banner2Taylor Isham and I are co-hosts of the newest Red River Radio podcast called The Green Room. What does this have to do with guitar? Patience…I’m getting there.

Taylor and I are huge music fans and we both are experienced guitarists. When the opportunity arose, we jumped at the chance and soon began planning our own radio show. Each week on Thursdays at 5PM, we hit the air to bring our fans some music they probably or definitely haven’t heard before. We’re going to take our influence of blues and rock, as well as psychedelic and alternative, to pick six or seven songs each episode that we will play and discuss. We’ll talk about the band/artist who wrote the song, which instruments they used, and other random facts that pop into our heads.

Every show is going to have a theme. The October 9th show is going to all about the famous 27 Club, a group of musicians who have all died at the age of, you guessed it, 27. If you’ve never heard of this club I highly suggest you Google it. To match our theme, the songs are all going to be from artists that fall into this club. Examples are Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and many more.

So if you’re bored after class or work on your Thursday evenings, tune into Red River Radio (use that fancy Google machine to find it) at 5:00PM to 6:00PM every week. That’s Thursdays at 5:00 on Red River Radio.

Taylor and I are excited to get the show up and running and please feel free to tweet at us during or before the show if you have suggestions! We’ll be taking requests, so if you have a song you want us to play and discuss, tweet @spennymy9 or @IshamTaylor.

Also, if you’d like to listen to our first setlist from Thursday you should check out Taylor’s blog @ Taylor’s Musical Journey on wordpress. His last post describes all the songs we aired!
